PORTFOLIO SUBMISSIONS:
Please include the following materials: VHS (NTSC) tape of any animation that you have created. If you haven't done any animation, that's not a problem. (DO NOT send PAL format!) PLAYABLE DVD’S - We understand that less and less people have VHS equipment so if you wish to submit animations and artwork digitally make absolutely sure that this is a playable DVD.Before sending, make sure to test this disc on a DVD player, and on OS-X computers. The more equipment you can test your disc on the better. Finally, make sure to put your name and address on it. If you are submitting samples of drawings and artwork digitally make sure they are organized into a slide show or movie that will play back on the DVD.
PORTFOLIO DRAWINGS - should be no larger than 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Please send photocopies and NOT original drawings. Color is fine, but not necessary. Please include examples of life drawings, human and animal, quick sketches, and a few long poses. Also character designs and other animation related art is fine, but not entirely necessary. (If you submit these on paper you don’t need to submit the same images on a CD, this is redundant and we would rather look at your drawings and artwork on paper) SLIDES - should be submitted in plastic sleeve pages so that we can view them as a group. Slides should be of art work and sculpture too large to fit in your portfolio. Please do not include slides of art already in your portfolio. STORYBOARDS - should be no larger than 8 1/2 by 14 inches and should contain horizontal panels in a 4:3 rectangular format. Again, color is not necessary. Good story is more important than nice colors and helps us determine what kind of mind you have for animation. For these reasons, please make sure that this is a complete board of a story and not a scene or section from one. (SAMPLE STORYBOARD) PLEASE AVOID THE FOLLOWING: DATA CD’s and DVD’s - roughly 50% of these discs either don't play, aren't recognized by our computers; play back in a degraded quality or at the wrong frame rate. (Don’t submit CD’s with individual, jpegs of your artwork that we have to load individually, this slows down our review process and does not help your chances of being admitted.)
SLIDE CAROUSELS - We don't have that type of projector in the lab anymore. OVERSIZED ARTWORK AND STORYBOARDS - these are hard to store and can get separated from your other submission materials. They are more easily damaged and are difficult for our admissions office to ship back to the sender due to increased postal restrictions. (IF YOUR PORTFOLIO IS GOOD, IT WILL BE JUST AS GOOD 8.5 by 11" AS IT WILL BE LARGE.)
