|Lecturer Rich Quade teaches animation courses at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
From 1992-2001 he worked full-time at Pixar Animation Studios in various capacities. He was the directing animator on Toy Story (1995), supervising animator on both A Bug’s Life (1998) and Monsters, Inc. (2000) and an animator on Toy Story 2 (1995). He returned to the studio on a freelance basis to animate Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), Cars (2006) and Toy Story 3 (2010).
From 2007 to 2013, he also worked on projects for Pixar’s theme park division. Additionally, he has taught seminars in Europe, at such venues as Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark, and Anomalia in the Czech Republic.
Since 2002, he has been a disc jockey as well, known on the air as Pop Goes the Weasel, at community college radio station KALX in Berkeley, Calif.
Quade received his undergraduate degree in art and math from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. In 1990, he received his M.F.A. from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television after going through the School’s Animation Workshop program.
