John Canemaker masterclass, March 2018

On March 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2018 the UCLA Animation Workshop hosted John Canemaker for a three-day MasterClass. John reviewed MFA student work, presented three different lectures, and brought along friends Glen Keane, Andreas Deja, and Aidan Terry for the final day. His lectures (The Lost Notebook: Herman Schultheis and The Secrets of Walt Disney’s Movie Magic; Winsor McCay: His Life and Art; Animation Action Analysis Of Two Golden Age Disney Masters: Vladimir Tytla And Milt Kahl) were riveting and included a live performance with Gertie the Dinisaur! Many thanks to John, please come back soon.

MasterClass made possible by the Matt Groening Endowed Chair in Animation, which provides support for visiting artists and lecturers for the UCLA Animation Workshop at the School of Theater, Film and Television.
