The Animatrix is an animation-based journal written and published by graduate students and alumni from the UCLA School of Film and Television. Each edition contains exclusive interviews with individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field, as well as thought-provoking articles pertaining to animation.

The Animatrix has a rich history,  starting at the Workshop in 1984 - the only Graduate Student Journal in Animation

In 1989, the Animation Workshop hosted the first International Society for Animation Studies (SAS) Conference.
